Who it may suit

  1. A missing tooth or teeth

An implant may be discussed when a tooth is already missing, or when it can’t be predictably restored.

  2. Enough healthy support

Your bone, gum health, bite and medical history all need to be assessed before an implant is recommended.

  3. A fixed replacement

For people who would rather not rely on a removable appliance to replace a tooth.

How treatment works

  1. Consultation

Tell us what happened, what you’d like to improve and any worries about treatment. Your dentist checks your mouth, gums, neighbouring teeth and the gap.

  2. Imaging if needed

X-rays or scans may be needed to check the bone and plan treatment. Imaging isn’t included in the fixture-only starting price.

  3. Your plan and quote

You get a recommended plan, the alternatives, the likely stages and a clearer estimate, including whether grafting or other procedures may be needed.

  4. Placement, healing and the crown

The implant is placed in the jawbone and left to heal and bond with the bone. Then a crown made to match your teeth is fitted. There are several stages, with healing time between them.

Questions

How do I know if an implant suits me?

It depends on your gums, the bone available, your neighbouring teeth, your bite, your medical history and what you want to achieve. A consultation and any imaging your dentist needs are how that’s assessed.

Is $2,500 the full cost of an implant?

No. The $2,500 starting price is for the implant fixture only and doesn’t include the crown. Imaging, grafting or other procedures can also change the final cost.

What does the $4,600 price include?

A complete single-tooth implant, crown included, starts from $4,600. Your treatment may cost more if you need extra procedures.

What are the alternatives to an implant?

Depending on your situation, a bridge, a removable denture or another restorative plan. Your dentist explains what each option can and can’t do for you.

How long does an implant last?

With good daily cleaning and regular check-ups, implants can last many years. How long yours lasts depends on your health, your bite and how it’s cared for.
