What happens at the appointment
The exam
Your dentist checks your teeth, gums and mouth, and asks about anything that’s been bothering you.
X-rays, if you need them
They’re included in the comprehensive package. Your dentist will tell you whether they’re worth taking this time.
The clean
Plaque and hardened tartar come off, then your teeth are polished. Fluoride is offered when it would help.
Next steps
If anything needs attention, your dentist explains what they found and your options before anything is booked.
What a check-up can and can’t do
It helps with
- Spotting decay and gum disease early
- Keeping an eye on fillings, crowns and other work
- Removing plaque and tartar that brushing leaves behind

- Treatment for a problem that’s already active
- An urgent visit for pain, swelling or an injury: call us instead

What’s the difference between the three packages?
Each is a comprehensive check-up and clean. The $199 package has no X-rays, the $249 package adds bitewing X-rays and the $299 package adds a panoramic X-ray. X-rays are taken where clinically indicated, and your dentist explains why before taking them.
Is it really no gap?
All three packages are no gap for eligible members of our preferred funds, subject to your cover and available benefits. At both clinics: nib, GU Health, Qantas Health Insurance and CBHS. At Prestons, Bupa Members First too.
How often should I come in?
It depends on your teeth, gums and risk factors. Many people come every six months; your dentist will suggest the right interval after seeing you.
Do you see children?
Yes. Kids have check-ups, cleans and fluoride too, with simple explanations and a gentle pace.
